Eternal Punishment

The Bible teaches that the human soul continues to exist consciously after death. Those who have rejected God's gift of eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ will suffer conscious-eternal punishment.

The Bible teaches that the human soul continues to exist consciously after death. Those who have rejected God's gift of eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ will suffer conscious-eternal punishment.

Matthew 25: 41 says, "Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:"

  • Satan does not and will not reign there.
  • Hell was created for the devil and his angles...
  • It was prepared by God for judgment of those angels who followed Satan in rebellion
  • Hell is an eternal storehouse of evil.  Hell is not bad in the sense that God made something evil.

Hell was never created for man, but man by his own free will chooses his destiny to be sent to hell by the rejection of the gift of salvation that Jesus gave to all mankind by dying on the cross in our place and rising from the dead on the third day conquering death. Hell is where evil is done away with whether it is evil men or evil angels.

God has made a way to escape hell. There is only one way to escape. Search salvation if you want to escape.

He delivers us from the wrath!

"And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come."

 1 Thessalonians 1:10

"For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,"

1 Thessalonians 5:9

KJV Bible

Throughout the Bible the author speaks of God's wrath, and the punishment to come for those who have rejected His way to salvation.

Revelation 6:15-17 says, "And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?"

John 3:36 says, "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him."

2 Thessalonians 1:8-9 says, "In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;"

And Isaiah 66:22-24 says, "For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain. And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD. And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh."

Not only is this reserved for the wrath of God, but it is a place of punishment, voluntary punishments, a torment that comes from within.

2 Peter 2:9 says, "The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:"
Matthew 25:46 says, "And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal."

The Bible gives a physical description of hell and describes the length of judgement as forever. In Jude 1:13 it says,  "Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever." Revelation 20:10 confirms this as everlasting, "And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever."

2 Peter 2:4 "For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;"

According to Revelation 14:9-11 Hell is a sort of fire that burns and does not consume:

"And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, the same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: and the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name."
